Community Meeting: Safety Along Clearwater-Largo Road

Largo's Engineering Services Department, in collaboration with Pinellas County Public Works and Forward Pinellas, is considering ways to increase safety and access for people traveling (walk, ride, bike, etc.) along Clearwater-Largo Road from West Bay Drive to 8th Avenue SW while maintaining capacity on the roadway for vehicle traffic. The project team is seeking input from anyone driving, walking, rolling, cycling, and/or taking transit along this route regarding safety priorities and ways to make Clearwater-Largo Road safe for all users of all abilities. We want to hear from you!

Background information:
Clearwater-Largo Road is four lanes north of West Bay Drive and four lanes south of Ulmerton Road but expands to six lanes for the 1.5 miles through the City of Largo between West Bay Drive and Ulmerton Road. The sidewalk is immediately adjacent to the road from West Bay Drive to 8th Avenue SW and, there is no allowable space to move the sidewalk further away from the roadway or expand it. One of the top priorities in this area is the safety of children and families walking to Mildred Helms Elementary School adjacent to motorists.
