Pinellas County opened its COVID-19 Emergency Rent Assistance Program on March 31, 2021.  Please visit Pinellas County's website to find out what documents are needed and the application process. If you received rent assistance under the City's program, you will still need register the first time you login to the Pinellas County Application Portal

FY 2021-2022 CDBG Action Plan - Adoption Public Hearing

A public hearing is scheduled for the City Commission adoption of Resolution No. 2291 - FY 2021-2022 Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) Action Plan on July 20, 2021 at 6 PMThe public is invited to attend the public hearing at Largo City Hall - Commission Chambers, 201 Highland Avenue, Largo, FL on July 20, 2021 at 6:00 PM. 

HUD, the Housing and Urban Development Department, has allocated CDBG-CV2 funds to the Florida Department of Economic Opportunity (DEO) to pass- through to local governments, to carry out activities related to COVID-19. The City of Largo is eligible to receive $209,726 and is in the process of developing an application to DEO for the funding.

CDBG-CV2 funds may be used to cover costs associated with preparing for, responding to, or recovering from the COVID-19 Pandemic.  Eligible activities are: housing, public services, public facilities, and special economic development activities that primarily benefit low and moderate-income residents.

A Public Hearing is being held to request citizen, agency and stakeholder COMMENTS on housing and community development needs to be considered in the development of the CDBG-CV2 application.  Comments from low-moderate income households and other community stakeholders are strongly encouraged.

The Public Hearing will be held on Wednesday, July 21, 201 from 6:00 PM - 7 :00 PM with both in-person and online/virtual options available for participation:

  • In Person: City of Largo, City Hall, Community Room -1st Floor, 201 Highland Avenue, Largo FL. Face coverings are recommended for the public visiting City of Largo facilities.

The City of Largo has teamed up with the Florida Department of Health Pinellas to offer a pop-up vaccine clinic at the Largo Public Library on August 5 from 10am until 2pm. Both Pfizer and Johnson & Johnson will be available. There are no appointments required, no cost for the vaccine, and individuals are not required to provide insurance information. Help us protect the health and wellness of our community.

City Staff discovered the failure of a 72-inch storm pipe along West Bay Drive in Downtown Largo. Engineering responded to a report of a large hole next to the roadway near Ulmer Park. Coordinating with the Public Works Department, staff barricaded the area for immediate safety. The City is working with a contractor to stabilize the failure and working to avoid damage to the nearby roadway or sewer system. The stabilization work will happen over the next few weeks in July and will provide a temporary fix to the larger issue of failing pipes due to age.

The Pinellas County Fertilizer Ban is in effect from June 1 through September 30, strictly prohibiting the sale or use of most lawn and landscape fertilizers as they contain Nitrogen and Phosphorous. Over 70% of Pinellas County waters contain excess amounts of these nutrients every year, causing harmful algae blooms that can even lead to fish kills. Excess nitrogen can lead to decreased water quality and can affect the health of the plants and animals that live in our local waterways.

Beginning in mid-March, Rosery Road from Missouri Avenue to the Walmart truck entrance will be undergoing construction for approximately 6 months. The City's construction contractor will be providing message boards beginning two weeks before the start of construction to alert drivers of the upcoming closure.

Pinellas County's COVID-19 Emergency Rent Assistance Program is open to assist households who had a loss of income due tot he COVID-19 Pandemic. 

The Federal Eviction Moratorium was also extended until July 31, 2021 for households that have had a loss of income related to the COVID-19 Pandemic.

In October 2018, the City began an over $50 million project to upgrade the treatment plant. To date, this project is 75 percent complete with a final completion date in Fall 2021.
