Celebrating National Nurses Week this May

In recognition of the invaluable contributions of nurses to our community's health and well-being, City of Largo team members will present a proclamation at the Tuesday, May 7, Largo City Commission Meeting in honor of Nurses Week in the City of Largo.

Each year, from May 6 through May 12, communities worldwide unite to honor nurses, acknowledging their pivotal role in healthcare and commemorating the birthdate of Florence Nightingale, the founder of Modern Nursing.

Nurses are dedicated to their patients, delivering compassionate care, preserving dignity, and meeting healthcare needs with unwavering professionalism. They serve as the backbone of healthcare delivery, from bedside care to leadership roles, ensuring the highest standards of ethics, skills, and accountability.

Largo is home to prominent medical centers like Empath Health and HCA Florida Largo Hospital, which employ thousands of nurses, including 475 at HCA Florida Largo Hospital alone. These nurses are crucial in providing high-quality and compassionate care to over 99,000 patients annually.

The City encourages all residents to join in recognizing and appreciating the tireless efforts of nurses, not only during Nurses Week but throughout the year. Thank you for your daily dedication, compassion, and unwavering commitment to caring for others. You are making a real difference in our community.

As a token of appreciation, the City of Largo invites you to choose a complimentary pool pass, round of golf, or round of footgolf as our way of saying thank you for all that you do. Download this card for redemption instructions.
