Join the City of Largo in celebrating Earth and Arbor Day in every corner of the community this April. From pledging to conserve water, reducing food waste, or hosting a neighborhood cleanup, Largo has several ways for you to get involved. Be sure to follow the City on social media throughout the month for tips, resources, and ways to show your support.
Keep Largo Litter-Free
A little litter is a big problem. Keep our award-winning parks and neighborhoods clean by joining a cleanup event with Keep Pinellas Beautiful or consider applying for a Neighborhood Grant to support a beautification project in your community.
Receive a Free Tree
Celebrate Arbor Day with a free tree or Florida-friendly plant giveaway at McGough Nature Park on Saturday, April 15 from 9am-2pm. Take a nature walk and say hello to McGough’s resident animals, too!
Join the Mayor’s Water Challenge
Mayor Woody Brown is joining other mayors nationwide in asking residents to participate in the 2023 Mayor’s Challenge for Water Conservation. The annual challenge encourages residents to use water more efficiently, reduce pollution, and save energy by taking a pledge at MyWaterPledge.com.
Reduce Food Waste
All Floridians benefit from better utilizing food resources. The City’s goal is to raise awareness and inspire a call to action to reduce food waste in our homes, workplaces, and community to ensure a sustainable Largo for generations. Share how you are a Food Waste Reduction Hero by using the hashtag #SaveFoodFL and visiting FoodWastePreventionWeek.com
Free Document Shredding & Recycling
Join the City of Largo for the next Shredfest event on Saturday, April 15 at the Starkey Road Recycling Center (1551 Starkey Rd) from 9am-12pm or until the trucks are full. This easy, drive-through free event allows residents to bring up to five boxes of documents for free and secure on-site shredding and recycling.
Discover the Night
Help reduce light pollution in the community and see more stars in our night sky. Join our community to celebrate Largo’s Dark Sky by turning off your lights for 15 minutes and Discover the Night. Step outside, look, listen, and share what you see with the City on Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter with the hashtag #LargoDarkSky. Headed to a virtual call? Show your support and download a branded Largo Dark Sky week virtual background.
