Nonprofits Invited to Provide Feedback on Largo Safety Net Grant

In March of 2022 the City of Largo hosted a Community Conversation with over 30 nonprofit stakeholders that serve the community representing education, mental health, food security, volunteering and other basic needs services. During the March gathering, nonprofit leaders shared key areas of concern that need direct action to assist our most vulnerable communities; the top priorities were housing, nonprofit funding, and community spaces that strengthen connections and information-sharing.

In response to feedback received during the March 2022 Community Conversation with nonprofit leaders and from a city-wide survey (launched 2021/2022), the City is announcing a Safety Net Grant that will open this fall using $250,000 of American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) funds for Largo Nonprofits and Nonprofits that serve Largo residents (501(c)(3) & 501(c)(19).

Nonprofits including faith-based organizations that serve Largo residents (can be located outside city limits) are invited to a follow-up Community Conversation on July 15 from 8:30-10:30am at the Largo Public Library. At the Community Conversation, city team members will share more details about the grant program and application process. The City will be looking for feedback directly from those nonprofits the grant is designated for to inform how the process may be improved before launch, so it is as user-friendly as possible.

Any nonprofit (501(c)(3) or 501(c)(19)) that would like to be part of the co-creation of the grant application and process, should RSVP before July 11 at Surveymonkey.com/r/CommunityGrant.

Those unable to attend the July 15 Community Conversation that still wants to provide feedback, can watch the Commission Work Session from June 14 at https://play.champds.com/largofl/event/65/s/4020 (also available on Largo.com/LiveTV) and email [email protected] with comments before July 14 so that feedback can be included in the July 15 nonprofit gathering.
