City of Largo Provides Zero Percent Interest Loans with Home Improvement Program

City of Largo Housing Services wants to support income-eligible homeowners with home renovation items through its Housing Improvement Program.

The program can provide a zero percent deferred mortgage for health, safety, and energy efficiency improvements, such as roof and air conditioner replacement, wheelchair ramp installation, water heater replacement, and more. There is no minimum credit score required, and after 15 years, for homeowners who keep their homes, the loan is forgiven.

To be eligible, homeowners must be within the City of Largo limits, own and live in the home as a primary residence, have their primary household income that cannot exceed current income limits for the program, and have equity in their property. In addition, the property cannot be in a Special Flood Hazard Area and mortgage and property tax payments must be up to date.

As a bonus and part of the Home Improvement Program, applicants may also be eligible for an Energy Grant of up to $5,000 and a Barrier Removal Grant of up to $5,000. Mobile homes built after June 1994 may also be eligible for limited improvements.
