Construction continues with the primary focus on the additional project improvements near West Bay Drive. The current construction operation includes demolition, excavation, grading, storm sewer modifications, and improvements to the pathway and concrete curb and gutter. Upon the completion of the concrete work and prior to the start of the final paving operation, there will be no apparent activity, but critical concrete curing (hardening) will be occurring. Barricades will remain in place during this curing time.
Local drivers will continue to be impacted by the lane shift set up to accommodate the construction operation on the south end of the project. In the southbound traffic lane, the traffic shift will eliminate the left turn lane at West Bay Drive. There will not be a designated left turn lane to eastbound West Bay Drive.
During this phase of construction, the northbound and southbound lanes on 20th Street NW will remain open. Construction is expected to be completed mid-April, barring the unforeseen.
