Vote on Changes to Largo's Charter

The Municipal General Election to be held on November 3, 2020 will include two amendments to the City of Largo Charter. A Charter Review Committee (CRC) was established by resolution on January 21, 2020. Seven members and two alternates were appointed and met on a monthly basis from February through May to evaluate and modernize the current charter. The CRC Final Report was presented to the City Commission at the July 7 Regular City Commission Meeting for direction as to which proposed amendments to place on the November 3, 2020 ballot. The Commission approved bringing forward the two following proposed changes to their citizens:

Section 2.12- Proposed change would allows the City to lease City-owned property for up to 10 years, instead of 5 years, without requiring referendum approval.

Section 9.02 - Proposed changes would provide for member appointment to the Charter Review Committee every 10 years instead of every 7 years.

The following text was provided to Pinellas County Supervisor of Elections.

Should section 9.02 of the city charter be amended to require that the Charter Review Committee convene at least once every ten years, instead of the present provision, which requires that the Charter Review Committee convene at least once every seven years?
