Community Composting Program to Start October 16

In partnership with Keep Pinellas Beautiful, the City of Largo is excited to launch a new Community Composting Program to encourage waste reduction and create a more sustainable Largo. Composting is easy to do and has numerous benefits including reduced greenhouse gas emissions, improving soil health, and reduced fertilizer use.

Friday, October 16, is International World Food Day, which calls for global solidarity to help the most vulnerable people to recover and make food systems more sustainable, stronger and resilient to shocks. In honor of this day, the City will begin providing residents will an online form on October 16 so they can request delivery of a free, 100 percent recycled, composting bin. These bins will be available while supplies last, are limited to one per household and due to general bin design are not available for multi-family apartments or condos.

Stay tuned to Largo.com and Facebook.com/CityofLargo for more information about the program as it becomes available.
