Practice Fire Safety this Fourth of July

This year's Fourth of July festivities are going to look a lot different for many places because of cancelations of firework displays across the area. Because of these cancelations, many families might be more encouraged to set off their own firework displays. Largo Fire Rescue wants you to be safe and think about alternatives to celebrating with fireworks including biodegradable confetti, bubbles, and noisemakers. Here are a few stats showing the dangers of fireworks:

Did you know?
  • Over 9,000 firework injuries are treated in the ER every year.
  • Fireworks cause over 19,000 fires annually
  • Children aged 10-14 have the highest rate of firework injury
For more information about these stats and more, visit the National Fire Protection Association's website.
