Community Spotlight

The City of Largo is proud to shine a spotlight on employee's community involvement, interests, and volunteer efforts outside of work. This focus on giving back makes our city a better place to live, work, and play and gets us closer to the City's strategic vision to be the Community of Choice in Tampa Bay.

This month we are happy to feature two members of our organization with a passion for giving back to veterans: William Parker, IT Customer Service Manager and Office Administrator, Linda Smith.

photo of William-ParkerWill devotes his free time to individual veterans as they work through their  transition from military to civilian life. Being a veteran himself, Will believes "It is important to give back to those that may be struggling
with finding employment. I was able to successfully navigate the system and can provide insights, as well as resources that I found useful."

Will has also worked with Operation Homefront, an organization that assists military service members and their families. They are currently hosting a Holiday Toy Drive and are taking donations. For more information, visit

Honor Flight recognizes  American Veterans for their sacrifice and service by flying them for free to Washington, D.C. to visit and reflect at the memorials dedicated in their honor. Upon their return from the nation's capital, they are warmly greeted at their home airport with a party and fanfare. Linda hopes to raise awareness about the Honor Flight program so that others might experience the great work they do. To learn more about Honor Flight, visit

The City of Largo is proud to continue the celebration of veterans by acknowledging those dedicated to the community. City Manager Henry Schubert commented "One of our city values is Passion. Embodying that value in service to the community helps Largo move ever closer to our vision of being the Community of Choice in Tampa Bay."

Thank you, Will and Linda, for giving back to your Community of Choice!
