At the October 16, 2018 Largo City Commission Meeting, Commissioners were presented with three Savvy Awards and a highly-acclaimed 3CMA Diamond Award for the Largo brand and website.
The Communications and Marketing team received these awards at the 30th Annual City/County Communications and Marketing Association (3CMA) Conference in Milwaukee, Wisconsin on Thursday, September 6. 3CMA is the nation’s premier network of local government communicators, with Savvy Awards recognizing successful and creative communication and marketing campaigns.
SAVVY AWARD WINNER: LARGO BRAND & LOGO
Largo’s new logo and brand took home one of the first Savvy awards in the Marketing and Tools category. This award highlighted the importance of the internal branding team’s goal to utilize community input and feedback rather than from outside consultants. 3CMA judges were impressed by Largo’s in-house branding effort, creativity and cohesive implementation and consistent approach to community engagement during the branding process.
SAVVY AWARD WINNER: LARGO.COM
Largo’s website, Largo.com, received a second Savvy award in the Digital Interactive, Overall Website category. This very visible representation of Largo’s brand showcased the organization’s focus on City services with eye-catching graphics that inspire community pride. The use of consistency, modern features, and content layout for Largo.com, as well as the City’s updated Recreation, Performing Arts and Library websites “set the new standard for government websites,” according to 3CMA judges.
DIAMOND AWARD WINNER: LARGO BRAND
The 3CMA panel awarded the City of Largo with not only a third Savvy award for the brand but also with a distinguished 3CMA Diamond Award. This award is marked for entries that are considered “best of the best” and presented to one of the Savvy winners in each category. Largo’s brand surpassed nearly 25 entries from other municipalities in the Communication & Marketing Processes category for demonstrating an excellent approach to planning, strategy and execution.
FUTURE OF THE BRAND …NATURALLY!
Although the Communications and Marketing team organized the branding process and web development, these awards belong to the organization and to the community. It was the ideas, input, feedback and enthusiasm of leadership, Commission, staff, residents and businesses that drove the process and allowed for a successful community brand to develop.
To celebrate these great awards with the community, all are invited to share "why you love Largo" on social media. Use the hashtag #LoveLargoFL on Facebook, Instagram or Twitter and stop by City Hall, the Largo Public Library or any Largo recreation facility to show your post and to receive a free t-shirt while supplies last.
As we strive to be the Community of Choice in Tampa Bay, the City of Largo will continue to support our focus on Community Pride using our new brand. Resident can look forward to updated signage, enhanced citizen engagement, friendly and welcoming staff and continued superior services …Naturally!
