Overview

ISO-Class-OneLargo Fire Rescue was formed in the early 1900s and operated as an all-volunteer department until 1921. In 1970, the department became fully career-staffed. Today the department has 142 sworn firefighters and 10 civilian employees. Professionally trained personnel provide fire protection, emergency medical services, hazardous materials response and mitigation, technical rescue operations, fire prevention and inspection, community education, and disaster planning service.

Pinellas County is the fifth most populated county in the state with 929,050 residents and is the most densely populated with 4,407 persons per square mile. Largo Fire Rescue provides fire suppression and Emergency Medical Services (EMS) services to more than 100,000 residents in a service area of approximately 30.5 square miles.

Largo Fire Rescue's Insurance Services Office (ISO) rating is a Class 1.

Call Volume & Statistics
In 2017, Largo Fire Rescue responded to 29,558 calls for service. Eighty-nine percent of these calls were emergency medical calls, and eleven percent were non-medical/fire based calls for service.
