On Monday, September 18, 2023, the Largo City Commission formally adopted an annual operating budget and property tax rate, maintaining the current tax rate at $5.5200 per $1,000 of assessed value.

Forward Pinellas is currently developing the next Long Range Transportation Plan, also known as Advantage Pinellas 2050, which accounts for all transportation projects that are to be funded in Pinellas County out to the year 2050.

The construction at Woodrow Park is nearing completion!  The City of Largo invites you and your neighbors to join us for a grand re-opening event for Woodrow Park on Friday, October 6 from 5:30-7:30pm. Enjoy entertainment, music, games, and a sneak peek of the design that incorporates community feedback.

The City of Largo is proud to announce the 2023 dates for ShredFest, the free document shredding and recycling event. Please join us on January 14, April 15, and October 14 at the Starkey Road Recycling Center (1551 Starkey Rd) from 9am-12pm or until the trucks are full.

The City of Largo is joining Pinellas County Solid Waste in holding an upcoming Household Chemical Collection event on Saturday, September 30 at Starkey Road Recycling Center (1551 Starkey Road) from 9am-2pm. A household chemical collection event is an easy and convenient way for residents to discard unwanted household chemicals.

The mission of Largo’s Recreation, Parks and Arts' Department is to provide programs and facilities that are enriching and inspire community pride. During the month of September, the department is hosting a public survey to learn more about the community’s perspective on the current use and satisfaction of recreation services in Largo.

Starting October 1, 2023, the Largo Recreation, Parks, and Arts Department will offer all recreation fitness classes at Highland, Southwest, and the Community Center for free to individuals with eligible healthcare providers.

Planning for the Southwest Pool renovations continues as Team Members work to balance the facility's needs with the current budget. The project is currently in the design phase and renovations are planned to include resurfacing, repairs to the dive tower, and more. It is currently anticipated construction will begin in early 2024 

Central Park Performing Arts Center Announces 2023-24 Season! The Central Park Performing Arts Center is proud to announce its new season of performances, featuring a diverse lineup that will offer an exciting array of performances, including theatre, dance, the Children's Educational Series, family entertainment, jazz, classical, pop, rock music, and comedy. 

The City of Largo proudly announces that long-time City Manager Henry Schubert was selected as the 2023 Chamber Inspire Award Honoree in the “Public Service Inspiration” category. 

Each year, community priorities help to determine how tax dollars are spent within the City of Largo's annual budget, totaling nearly $250 million of local investment. The City is currently planning for the Fiscal Year (FY) 2024 budget, which begins in October. The proposed FY2024 budget continues to support the focus areas and initiatives in the City’s Strategic Plan established by the City Commission.

Construction for the Gladys Street improvement project will be underway in a few weeks. Residents and roadway users should be prepared for road closures starting as early as Sunday, July 23. The project site includes Gladys Street from the intersection at Dryer Avenue to the intersection at Wilcox Road.

Largo City Commission, City Leadership, and the Horizon Project Team joined the project architect, ASD│SKY and Biltmore Construction in Downtown Largo for an official groundbreaking ceremony of Horizon West Bay in Fall 2022. Mayor Woody Brown and City Manager Henry Schubert welcomed guests and talked about Horizon as a true investment in a Downtown vision.
