Content Updates

The fastest way for your website to become outdated and lose our community's trust is to lose track of time-sensitive information and leave outdated information on the website. Items such as events, proposals, or meetings should be tracked by content providers at least once a month or quarter. Any obsolete information found on the website must be removed by the content provider immediately.

What Content Should I Update?

Webpage
Be sure to review the content on your webpage(s) each month or quarterly. Here are a few items you should check:
  • Any and all hyperlinks (text links, quick link icons and photo tiles)
  • Images loading too slowly
  • Content that should be linked on your webpage
  • Misspellings
  • Any accessibility issues
  • Fillable forms sending correctly
  • Left navigation column (Contact Info, Related Pages, Documents, etc.)
Events Calendar
The Calendar is one of the best and easiest ways to keep our community informed about what is going on in and around Largo. Empty calendars will make users question if the website is up-to-date. If you are responsible for maintaining the events calendar, it's your responsibility to ensure events are scheduled timely, at least three months out from the event, if possible. If an event is canceled, editors are to remove the event from the calendar ASAP.
Documents
Documents are to be managed and reviewed by every content provider to make sure the link is working, that the PDF is the current version and that documents are made accessible.

Visit this page for best practices on updating and maintaining documents.

PRO TIP: Even if you delete a document from the Document Center, it will still need to be "hard deleted." This can only be done by the Webmaster. If you have documents that need a hard delete, please send a list with file hyperlinks to [email protected].
Staff Directory
