Planning for the Future of the Largo Golf Course

Largo Golf CourseThe City of Largo has invited a Technical Assistance Panel to evaluate options for the future use of the Largo Municipal Golf Course. ULI professionals will explore the built and natural environment of the area and meet with stakeholders to develop realistic recommendations that align with the community's vision and needs. It is important to note, the future of the course is not yet determined. The panel's recommendations and community input will be further evaluated by City leaders to consider all possibilities carefully.

WHY NOW?
The 18-hole Largo Municipal Golf Course opened in 1969 and subsequently reconstructed in 2007. Within the next 5-10 years, the course will require significant investments that are currently unfunded. In good stewardship of tax dollars, the City must plan for the future to ensure superior service delivery that meets community needs.

WHO IS ULI?
ULI is a nonprofit research and education organization that focuses on issues of land use, real estate, and urban development. The Technical Assistance Panel will be a group of diverse professionals representing the full spectrum of land use disciplines that have volunteered to provide an external perspective.

WHEN?
Community outreach will begin in the spring of 2020 and include customers of the course as well as residents, businesses, and visitors of Largo. The panel will take place in the summer of 2020 and report findings and recommendations at a Commission Work Session in August. Potential changes will be carefully considered, communicated, and strategically planned for 5-10 years in the future.

HOW YOU CAN HELP?
The City of Largo values community input and the unique and diverse perspectives of residents, business and visitors. An online survey was available in early April through June 1 to seek community input and provide the Technical Assistance Panel information our community’s needs and values to consider throughout the process.
