Neighborhood Grant Brightens up the Block

The City of Largo is excited to announce that the first project under Largo's new Neighborhood Matching Grant Program is complete. The Rainforest Homeowners Association has removed an eyesore stretch of rotted fence and replaced it with a more visibly appealing vinyl fence. To highlight this program's support of the City's focus on community pride, a ribbon cutting to commemorate the occasion was held on Wednesday, September 12. Commissioner Jamie Robinson, City Manager Henry Schubert, members of City staff and homeowners from the Rainforest Neighborhood on Largo's east side were in attendance at the community gathering.

The Neighborhood Matching Grant Program was unanimously approved by the City Commission earlier this year. Commissioner Robinson commented, "The overall thankfulness expressed by neighbors in support of this project lets us know that we made the right decision in supporting this grant program". A young neighbor, Evie, held on to the ribbon from her first-ever ribbon cutting and said that she loves the new fence.

Matching grant funds remain for neighborhoods seeking to brighten up their blocks. Information and application instructions can be found at Largo.com/Connect.
