4.2 Confidentiality of Library Records
The Largo Public Library's intent is to protect the privacy of library patrons. As such, the library maintains only a minimum number of records. In accordance with Florida State Statute 257.261, the Largo Public Library will not disclose records or other information that identifies a user of library services as requesting or obtaining specific materials or services or otherwise using the library.
Library patron records may be disclosed only under the following circumstances:

Under a proper judicial order. If a court order, search warrant, or subpoena is issued, the library will consult the City of Largo's Attorney's Office before complying.

the library patron named in the record,

in the case of a library patron less than 16 years of age, the parent, or guardian of that patron named in the record,

any entity that collects fines on behalf of the library,

Largo law enforcement officials, and
-
judicial officials.
Anyone violating the statute is guilty of a misdemeanor of the second degree.
4.3 Privacy Statement
The Largo Public Library is concerned with safeguarding your privacy and will only disclose your records as required to do so by law. Under the USA Patriot Act, the library must comply with court orders for library patron records. Records may include materials used and PC, Internet, and email records. The law may prohibit staff from informing you of such a search. Please contact your federal legislators if you have questions about this law.
