The following FAQ's do not include the entire definition of an ordinance but are meant to give a guideline to some of the major questions. You may contact Code Enforcement for specific answers to your questions.

10) How tall can my grass be before it would be a violation?
Overgrowth of grass, weeds, uncultivated vegetation over a discernible portion of the property in excess of twelve inches would be considered a violation.
 
9) Can I keep a vehicle that is inoperable or unlicensed?
You may have one vehicle that is inoperable or unlicensed inside a fully enclosed structure such as a garage. All other vehicles to include trailers, boats, must have a valid tag on them and be fully operable to remain on any property in the city.

8) Can my neighbor store piles of junk, boxes and totes outside?
No, outside storage of junk, indoor furniture, trash, totes, boxes, car parts, dismantled machinery etc. may be stored outside on any residential and most commercial properties.

7) Can I park or store a commercial vehicle at my house?
Yes, you may store the commercial vehicle at your residential property if the vehicle is under 11,000 lbs., operable with a valid tag, and parked off the set back usually 20 feet from the right of way in front of your home. No commercial vehicles may be parked on city streets or right of ways unless there on a professional job. No semi tractors or trailers would be allowed to be parked or stored on any residential property.

6) Can my neighbor run a business from their home?
They can obtain a "Home Office of Convenience" Business Tax Receipt for certain types of businesses being run from a residence, however this is used as a home office and needs to be transparent to the neighborhood.

5) Can I post signs on utility poles or in the right of way's?
No, signs may not be placed in the right of way, medians or on utility poles at anytime. They cause a big distraction to drivers and are a danger for citizens to place in high traffic areas also for Code Officers to remove the signs putting them in danger from traffic.

4) Can I make repairs to my vehicle on my property?
Yes, you can make minor vehicle repairs such as changing the spark plugs, tire change or oil change. You can not do major repairs like dropping the transmission, engine, removing body parts unless it is done inside a fully enclosed garage or structure.

3) What do I do about noise coming from a business or neighboring residence?
Code Enforcement Officers can respond during regular business hours and take noise readings to see if it is a violation. Other than M-F 7:30 - 4:00 you would need to contact the non emergency number for the Largo Police Department 727-587-6730 and they will respond to the complaint. This would include barking dogs, roosters, loud machinery.

2) Where can I sell my vehicle in Largo?
You may sell your vehicle only on the property that is listed on the vehicle's registration or at a fully licensed car lot. This is to keep the street corners and parking lots from becoming an eyesore with a multitude of vehicles for sale.

1) My neighbor leaves his trash can at the curb all week, is this a violation?
Yes, the trash container must be placed at the curb no earlier than 7:00 pm the evening before  trash pickup and must be brought back to the side of the house or inside the garage or carport by 7:00 pm the day of trash pick up. This does not include bulk waste placed at the curb for removal.
