Date of Record: September 22, 2009

Do you enjoy the outdoors and want to serve an active role in maintaining the City's urban forest? The Largo Parks Department is looking for volunteer Tree Tenders to help maintain and beautify the City's collection of public and privately owned trees.

Qualified candidates will receive adequate training through the Florida Community Forest Steward Program presented by the University of Florida and Hillsborough County Extension Service. This hands-on training program will teach volunteers tree identification, species selection, tree care and maintenance, pest management and much more.

Tree Tender responsibilities include assisting with small and medium tree care, inspecting and reporting on tree conditions, coordinating future planting sites, tracking and cataloging city trees, participating in Arbor day events and educating the public on the many benefits of urban forestry programs. Ages 18 and older are encouraged to apply by October 15. A valid Florida drivers license is required.
