The Governor's Business Diversification Awards


Enterprise Florida is currently accepting nominations for the 2009 Governor's Business Diversification awards. The annual recognition is used to highlight Florida companies that have achieved a variety of benchmarks over the past year. If you know of a Florida company that qualifies for one of the awards below nominate them or encourage them to apply prior to July 24, 2009.

  • Governor's Business Expansion Award is for a Florida company that expanded its operations in 2008, investing capital and creating jobs for Floridians.

  • Governor's Entrepreneurship Award is for a Florida start-up company (less than 5 years) that sets the standard for entrepreneurship and creativity during 2008.

  • Governor's Export Excellence Award is for a Florida company that experienced a significant increase in documented export sales in 2008.

  • Governor's Green-to-Gold Award is for a Florida company, organization or institution that, through product, practice and/or process, best exemplifies "green" leadership. This award advocates the sustainable management of resources and the stewardship of the natural environment. Organizations that use and/or create technologies to build "green" economic opportunities and benefits are eligible to receive this award.

  • Governor's Innovation Award is for a Florida company, organization or institution that, through product or process, best exemplifies innovative leadership.

  • Governor's Newcomer Award is for a new-to-Florida company that began operating here in 2008.


Winning companies receive an exclusive luncheon with Governor Charlie Crist, recognition in a full-page collage ad In Florida Trend Magazine and state press releases. Awards will be given in September during the 2009 Industry Appreciation Week.
