City of Largo Multimodal Plan

The City of Largo Community Development Department is currently working on a City-wide Multimodal Plan. This three-phased planning project is anticipated to conclude in September of 2012. This plan specifically addresses the implementation of the Strategic Action Plan recommendation "Establish a Network of Community Streets." As part of this effort, this plan expands the definition and wording of "community streets" to encompass a more inclusive community transportation network, which includes non-vehicular trails as well as multimodal streets. This plan offers recommendations regarding how best to accommodate pedestrian, bicyclist, and recreational use, in addition to automobile and transit use, where appropriate, within individual corridor. In addition, the plan addresses deficiencies while establishing multimodal levels-of-service (LOS) targets. Finally, this plan proposes a 25-year, five-year phasing plan work program to guide funding and scheduling of multimodal improvements within the City of Largo as well as policies that will be incorporated into future updates of the Comprehensive Plan, Comprehensive Development Code amendments, and future capital improvement projects.

Phase I of the project includes an assessment of the current Community Street Network, in order to identify any existing network gaps. Phase I also provides a preliminary set of bicycle, pedestrian and transit facility design guidelines.
