In FY 2012, City of Largo residents and businesses recycled 7,081 tons of material. That saved the City more than $346,650.37 in disposal fees and saved 82,087 cubic yards of Pinellas County landfill space; that's enough to fill 16 football fields 3-feet high with garbage!

Paper Products: 58,952 trees were saved by recycling 3,467.78 tons of newspaper, office paper, and cardboard.

Aluminum: In FY2012, Largo residents recycled 154.28 tons of aluminum cans, steel cans and scrap metal that saved the energy equivalent of 2,196,176 kilo-watt hours of electricity. Enough to power 2,196 Largo homes for one month!

Plastic: Largo residents, businesses, and multi-family facilities recycled more than 314.66 tons of plastic bottles in FY 2012; by doing so they saved 215,542 gallons of oil since petroleum products are an essential component in making plastic.

Recycling plastic bottles, glass, aluminum and steel cans in FY 2012 saved 4,052,422.76 kilo-watt hours that is enough to power 4,052 homes for one month!
