The City of Largo's Strategic Plan 2011 - 2016

The City of Largo Strategic Plan serves as the community's response to Largo's most challenging issues. It provides a vision for how commercial corridors will redevelop, how the business community will thrive, how infrastructure assets will be maintained, how transportation choices will be expanded, how parks and open space will be cultivated, and how neighborhoods will be preserved. The Strategic Plan is used to align City programming and capital improvements with the community's goals. Through implementation, the community and City government use the Strategic Plan to focus on common goals, guide community growth and change, and move closer to a reconnected community.

The City of Largo Strategic Plan is organized around six principles:

• Create Activity Centers and Mixed-Use Corridors

• Promote a Viable Business Community

• Improve Infrastructure to Support Sustainability

• Establish a Network of Community Streets

• Expand Parks, Trails and Greenways

• Engage the Neighborhoods

New to the Strategic Plan is the principle that relates to the business community. Much of Largo's growth as a community depends upon successful businesses. Redevelopment strategies and infrastructure investments expand the City's capacity to grow, but Economic Development programming and superior customer service encourage and support the private investment needed to realize that growth.

The Strategic Plan also has a focus on Largo's infrastructure in order to provide services to our existing residents and businesses as well to provide for the anticipated growth of the City through redevelopment. Infrastructure is the City's way to make sure that private industry has the necessary components to grow and thrive in Largo.
