Lester
Aradi began his law enforcement year in 1974. He served with the
Buffalo Grove, Illinois Police Department in a variety of
assignments, rising to the rank of Deputy Chief. Chief Aradi was
brought in from Illinois to become the Chief of Police for the City
of Largo in February of 2001.
In
addition to his responsibilities as the police chief of an agency
consisting of over 200 employees with an annual budget in excess of
eighteen million dollars and serving a population of 76,000
residents, Lester Aradi is also the Chairman of the Pinellas County
Police Chiefs Council; Past Chairman of the Florida Police Chiefs
Association Legislative Committee; as well as serving on the Board of
Directors for the Florida Police Chiefs.
For
over 20 years, he was a criminal justice instructor for several
colleges in Illinois, including teaching graduate level courses for
Roosevelt University.
He
holds a Bachelors Degree in Criminal Justice from the University of
Illinois and a Masters Degree in Public Administration from Roosevelt
University in Chicago. He is a graduate of the F.B.I. National
Academy in Quantico Virginia, and he has studied community policing
abroad in an exchange program with the Norfolk and Metropolitan
Constabularies in England.
