Professional Background: Commissioner Black was appointed to the position of City Clerk of the City of Belleair Beach, FL in 1973 and served in that position for eighteen years retiring in 1991 with the title of City Clerk and Assistant Administrator.
Municipal Involvement: Commissioner Black began her involvement with the City of Largo in March 1975 when she was elected to the City Commission. She was reelected in 1978 and again in 1981 and served until the end of her term in 1984 when she chose not to become a candidate. Commissioner Black served as Vice Mayor of the City 1980-1981 and 1982-83. During the period of 1984 to 1989 she served the City of Largo as a member and Chair of the City Planning Board and the Board of Adjustment. In March of 1989, she was again elected to a three-year term but resigned two years later to become a candidate for the state legislature. Commissioner Black was elected in March 2005 to a three-year term, and again in November 2008. Her current term expires in November 2011.
