Watering Schedule Returns To Two-Days-Per-Week
The Southwest Florida Water Management District voted to let emergency Modified Phase II water shortage restrictions expire July 31 for the Tampa Bay Area. The Water Management District found significant improvements in aquifer and river levels as a result of Tropical Storm Debby and regular summer rains.
The area remains under a Modified Phase I water shortage order until December 31, but the irrigation schedule returns to two-days- per-week. Residents may water before 10 a.m. or after 4 p.m. The Phase I alert is intended to raise public awareness, in the event that conditions decline. Residents are asked to check their irrigation systems to ensure
they are working properly. This means testing and repairing broken pipes and leaks, and fixing damaged or tilted sprinkler heads. Residents who choose to use an irrigation timer should also check to ensure the settings are correct and the rain sensor is working properly in accordance with state law.
