Largo Recreation and Parks Helping Businesses Get Healthier

The rising cost of healthcare is having businesses look for creative ways to save money on these policies. One avenue has been promoting a healthy lifestyle for employees and their families. Countless studies confirm that an increase in physical activity can significantly lower claim costs and increase overall work performance. Employees not only desire to have on-site work out facilities, but many are now expecting it. However, these facilities can be costly for some businesses.

The Largo Recreation, Parks, & Arts Department would like to extend an invitation of membership to businesses located within the Largo City Limits. When a Largo company pays a low annual business fee, individual memberships are available to their employees and immediate family residing in the same household at a resident rate of $10 per person compared to $55 per person rate for non-residents.

Other benefits include:

• Participating businesses receive a one-time coupon for a 25% discount towards the rental fee at the Community Center, Highland Recreation Complex, Southwest Recreation Complex for a business function or employee party. Discount applies to direct rental fees and not to staffing and other direct costs. Discount can not be used for private functions or pool rentals.

• Participating businesses may sponsor adult sports teams in football, softball, or basketball at reduced resident team rates.

• Employee members pay resident admission rates at the Highland Family Aquatic Center.

• Employee members qualify for resident rates on an Annual Discount Card at the Largo Golf Course.

• Non-resident employee members may register for summer camps on the last day of regular resident registration. Largo residents can register for camps throughout the entire registration period.
