Startec Idea Camp 2010: Why Your Business Should Apply


Do you have an innovative technology, product or process in the early stages of development? Would you like to work with industry experts and coaches to create a winning product pitch and value proposition for your technology concept? Then IDEA Camp is just the event for you.


What is IDEA Camp?

IDEA Camp is an all day collaborative event designed to assist entrepreneurs and inventors in the early stages of technology development. Participants will refine their value proposition; identify target markets; learn from industry experts and serial entrepreneurs; and work with professional facilitators to create a "perfect pitch". At the conclusion of this event, participants will deliver a refined pitch to an invited group of funders, mentors, prototypers, economic development officials, university representatives, and community/industry support organizations. This year's event will be held Friday, May 7, 2010 from 8:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. at St. Petersburg College Collaborative Labs located at 13805 58th Street North, Clearwater, 33760


Who should apply to present at IDEA Camp?

Anyone with an idea or innovative technology in the early stage of product/process development is encouraged to apply to participate in the 2010 IDEA Camp. Last year's participants presented concepts in the web 2.0, social media, defense, medical technology, alternative energy and manufacturing industries. The panel is looking for a diverse group of applicants. Applications will remain open until March 31. Completed applications should be emailed to Steve Ford at fords@ctc.com or faxed to 727-547-7350.


What can I expect to "take away" from Camp?

    • A refined business model that effectively communicates product attributes

    • Credibility for your product or idea through peer vetting

    • Confidence to deliver an effective value proposition solidified ideas to share with investors

    • New ideas, or technology improvements from real-time feedback

    • Momentum to move forward with a "next step" plan for your idea

    • A refined, and delivered pitch to technology experts, industry associations, prototyping firms, economic development and education partners, service providers, and funders

    • Contacts and resources to further develop your idea


What is the fee for IDEA Camp?

There is no fee to apply. If selected, you will be asked to remit payment in the amount of $79. This fee covers a pre-conference workshop, IDEA Camp registration, meals, and poster printing.
