Firefighter Employment

ISO Rating

Largo Fire Rescue is one of a few departments – nationwide – that has an ISO Class One rating, and is a leader in providing benefits and training to its employees. We provide a full range of services to the community, including hazardous materials response, technical rescue, tactical SWAT medics and an ALS service utilizing both ALS engines and rescues. Largo Firefighters work a 24/48 schedule with an additional shift off every 28-day cycle (13 annually).

All applicants interested in consideration for a current or upcoming hiring process must:

  1. After a job has been posted*, complete an online application by visiting largo.com/jobs.
  2. Current CPAT and FireTEAM test are required. Please register for both tests and complete the Personal History Questionnaire (PHQ) at the National Testing Network. Don’t forget to select Largo Fire Rescue as a department to receive your file. Note: When accepting a conditional offer of employment, candidates will be required to have a valid Candidate Physical Ability Test (CPAT) administered by an IAFF CPAT licensed site dated no earlier than one year prior to submitting the application.
  3. Carefully review our tattoo and tobacco policies as stated in the Qualifications for Firefighter/EMT and Qualifications for Firefighter/Paramedic All applicants must be able to comply with these important department policies.

The process may also consist of a written test, physical ability test, and multiple interviews which may include a phone screening, a ride along, and a panel interview. Candidates must pass each stage successfully in order to proceed to the next stage. For additional questions regarding the hiring process, please contact Human Resources.
