Police Employment
Largo Police Department is a state and nationally accredited police department of excellence where every sworn officer, civilian staff member, and volunteer is committed to providing responsive and professional service to the residents of Largo. The Patrol Division is responsible for the uniformed patrol functions of the department including 24-hour response to the initial investigation of crimes and incidents, traffic enforcement and control, and accident investigation. Specialized units such as TAC, Traffic Safety, K-9 and the Motor Unit are also utilized. A police officer is responsible for the protection of life and property, for the prevention, detection, and investigation of crime and for maintaining law and order.

Candidates must complete a City of Largo Employment Application.
Candidates must also process through the Police Applicant Screening Service (PASS) at the SPC Allstate Center, Suite 135, 3200 34th Street South, St. Petersburg, Florida 33711. Their telephone is 727-864-3822. This screening includes a written examination, administrative interview and background investigation. To expedite the hiring process, please begin your processing with PASS as soon as possible. The Police Department will reimburse the basic Public Safety Applicant Screening fees upon hire as a Police Officer with our agency.

After an offer of employment is given, applicants must successfully complete the following:
Polygraph
Psychological evaluation
Medical examination (including X-rays, EKG, and drug screening)
The probationary period for a Police Officer is one (1) year from the date of hire.
