Fire Code

By legislation, Florida has adopted the NFPA 1 and 101 and referenced standards as the Florida Fire Prevention Code as the minimum fire code for Florida. State Statute 633.202 compels each municipality, county and special district with fire safety responsibilities to enforce this code. To bring the city in compliance with the legislation, the department completed a comprehensive rewrite of Chapter 6- Fire Protection of the City of Largo Code of Ordinances. Ordinance 2004-13 amending Chapter 6 was passed and adopted in November 2003. Chapter 6 provides for the adoption of the Florida Fire Prevention Code, the establishment of formal guidelines for the placement of fire hydrants, and stipulates the duties and responsibilities of the Fire Rescue Department.
