City of Largo, Florida
Purple is the new "green" in water conservation
|It's a fact that all water on Earth is recycled. But when we hear the term "recycled" or "reclaimed water" it means wastewater that has been used in homes and businesses and sent through a sewer system to a wastewater facility where it is treated and made available for use in irrigation, industrial cooling, or dust control. The City of Largo and the Southwest Florida Water Management District (SWFWMD) teamed to fund a system to distribute reclaimed water to households and businesses for the purpose of watering lawns and commercial properties. While not available everywhere, Largo residents and businesses who use reclaimed water save money and reduce their ecological footprint. To find out if reclaimed water is available in your area, contact the department by phone at 727-518-3076, or by email.
